Are you a Top Vol?

The Student Homecoming Committee is looking to crown our first-ever TOP VOLS! But first, you have to make it on the Rocky Top Royalty. Do you have what it takes?

What is Rocky Top Royalty?

The Rocky Top Royalty will be made up of the top 10 candidates selected based on applications and interviews. These candidates must meet the minimum requirements throughout the week to remain in consideration for Top Volunteer. All 10 candidates will compete against each other for the title. The Top Volunteer winners will exemplify the Volunteer Spirit through their scholastic and extracurricular achievement at the University of Tennessee.

What are the Requirements for Eligibility?

Eligible candidates must:

  • Be a currently enrolled, full-time student
  • Have earned a minimum of 24 hours at UTK
  • Have a minimum 2.65 GPA (transcript required with application)
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University (cannot be on probation)
  • Either be sponsored by a registered student organization or obtain 50 signatures from people affiliated with UTK (faculty, staff, and students)

How Do I Win Top Volunteer?

Applicants will be interviewed by a panel of judges and will participate in Preliminaries on Thursday, October 27th in order to be selected for Rocky Top Royalty. RTR candidates must complete all attendance requirements and campaign throughout the week of Homecoming. The general student body will then have the chance to vote for the candidates they believe exemplify the Volunteer Spirit. Student votes and interview scores will be averaged together to decide the first-ever Top Volunteers. Two winners will be chosen and announced at halftime of the Homecoming game on Saturday, November 5th.

How Do I Apply?

Apply at https://utk.collegiatelink.net/form/start/111274 by October 5th at 5 p.m. You will need to submit an official transcript and your Endorsement Sheet with your application. You can either upload them into your application, or turn them in to the Center for Student Engagement in 2227 Dunford Hall.

The application asks about your campus involvement, leadership positions, community services activities, and scholarships and honors.

What Happens if I Win?

The Top Volunteers will receive a prize and sash as they begin their reign as Top Vol. They will assist with the philanthropy presentation, make appearances at various events throughout the year, and plan a community service event for the UT community. Then, they will return to Homecoming 2017 to award the next Top Volunteers!
